As lovely as Montana is, it is not isolated from the rest of the world and cold and flu season has settled in horrifically. The number of sick people at work seems to grow exponentially and even I have succumb to the horrors of the cold. I spent a week marinating in cold and flu medicine and downing the occasional hot toddy to lift my spirits and produce some pleasant dreams. Even now I am still coughing and cursing my sinuses for harboring the cursed inflammation.
I was forced to cancel one broadcast and have been generally unable to cook or make anything really good in the kitchen because of this cursed illness. So anyone tuning in this last weekend or checking my blog might have been a little disappointed to find no new content.
Sorry to all.
However what I can offer is my hot toddy recipe that has been seeing me through the worst of this epidemic.
Stacy’s Happy Hot Toddy
- juice of 1 lemon
- 3 Tbsp honey, local honey is best
- 3 Tbsp Whiskey
- 8 oz boiling water
- splash of orange bitters
Put lemon juice, honey, and whiskey in mugs and give it a gentle blend. Add hot water and mix well. Add a splash of bitters and mix well, add more to increase the tang. Enjoy while hot and hold mug with both hands while wearing favorite long sleeved shirt or sweater. Long sleeves is a must.
To your health!
